As you begin your hunt for the right space to host your day, you’ll find that each wedding venue will offer their own unique wedding packages and inclusions.
This could largely influence your choice in which wedding venue is the right one for you but the good news is that there are numerous options to suit every budget and style.
Whether you are looking to host a large and extravagant celebration or a small and intimate wedding, you are sure to find something that suits.

An increasing number of venues will offer an all inclusive wedding package, offering benefits such as
being able to hold the ceremony and reception in one place so that your guests won’t need to travel between the two. An all inclusive venue also means that you don’t have to out source catering as it will be provided on site. Having everything on site at one location and a wedding planner to manage the day may be convenient and one of the lowest stress options but it may not be the cheapest option and it may mean you only have one location for photos.

Some brides opt to have the ceremony at one location and the reception at another. There are various reasons for this, for example those who are religious may want to be married in a church which is a great location for the ceremony but not suitable for the after party.
Others prefer to be married outside in nature yet prefer to have an enclosed area for the reception celebration. Should you opt for an outdoor ceremony option such as at the botanical gardens or the beach, you may need to hire extra equipment like a sound system, microphone, speakers and chairs. You also need to consider what alternate options there are in the case of wet weather. Is there an indoor shed or hall that could be used as a backup plan?

Although you can marry on any day of the week, it is no surprise that Saturdays are by far the most popular day that couples choose to get married. Many venues will charge full price for a Saturday but may be willing to offer reduced pricing if you book on a weekday. Keep in mind that a week day wedding may cause some inconvenience to your guests if they need to take leave from work.

Another thing to consider in your decision making is the location and proximity to public transport – some guests may be drinking and need to catch a taxi or public transport home. It may be worthwhile to find out if there is parking available onsite for those who wish to drive. Think about your overseas or interstate guests, is there accommodation available nearby and activities to keep them entertained?

The most popular time of the year for couples to tie the knit is between March – April and September – October. The main reason these months are so popular is due to the weather, Autumn and Spring produce an abundance of beautiful flowers and a lovely moderate climate. These months are referred to as “peak season”, and you may need to get in quick to secure your venue of choice a year or more in advance.
Booking in off peak months such as June, July and August could see you scoring yourself a discount or being able to book the venue much closer to the actual date.

When you have decided on a venue, you may be asked to sign a contract and pay a deposit to secure your booking. Remember to read the small print before signing any wedding contract, so that you understand if there is a minimum spend or any cancellation fees you may be liable for if you make last minute changes to the program.

Once you have secured your venue, it is time to look at organising the finer details like food and beverage, your photographer and the guest seating plan. You may wish to theme your wedding with personalised items such as cake toppers, unique table numbers, guest name plaques and/or wedding signs.

Although wedding planning can be a time consuming saga, it’s also a lot of fun and a great time to bond with your significant other whilst practicing your decision making skills together.
There are an abundance of wedding venues and styles to choose from, at the end of the day whatever you decide, just make sure it’s right for you!
