When I first started LilyCraft we used to sell a stainless steel credit card sized bottle opener. I purchased them from China (before we started machining our own products), and left the supplier a note to "LEAVE AT FRONT DOOR", expecting the delivery driver to leave my parcel at the door.

It turns out my supplier engraved all 100 bottle openers with "LEAVE AT FRONT DOOR". I didn't even know this supplier was offering an engraving service, nevermind that they thought I had a 100 friends who wanted to take my bottle openers home with them.

We have been doing this for years. (Engraving, not throwing bottle opener parties) We're really good at deciphering what and where you'd like us to engrave. If we're unsure, we'd normally check back with you or send an artwork proof for you to check. We're quite good at noting which is instructions, and which wording you actually want engraved.

To make it easy for us you can use the following example:

Box Front: Dad
Knife Handle: Michael
Box Inside: Happy Fathers Day 2023

You don't need to put your wording in quotation marks, and I guarantee that I wont engrave your message Verbatim like my Chinese supplier did.

We prefer to employ more expensive natural chemicals to use in our production process that are non-harmful because we don't like to use any products or chemicals that negatively affect either ourselves or the environment.

We're proud to be powered 100% by Solar power - even our large 3 Phase Machines, Air compressors and Conditioners are powered entirely by solar.
We use rainwater that has been gathered on site in our production process, with natural vegetable based cutting oils.

Our timber and leather is sourced sustainably. Our timber is legally obtained timber from plantations, such as the rubberwood plantations in Vietnam. Every 30 years after they cease producing rubber, the trees are harvested, and a new one is planted in their place.

Absolutely. We can engrave your own handwriting or child’s drawings on any of our personalised gifts at no extra charge.
We have added Grandma’s recipes in her own writing onto cutting boards, the families hand prints onto hammer gift sets, and hand written messages onto the inside of our personalised men’s leather wallets.

Just take a photo from your phone with good lighting of the handwritten message that you’d like us to engrave for you. To engrave your Child's drawing, handprint or footprint (tricky to get those newborn handprints!), just send us through a picture taken with your phone.
We get the best results if your photograph is clear with good lighting, drawn on white paper in a single colour, preferably black.
We do not engrave any photographs, but pictures of handwriting or a Child's drawing normally come out really well engraved on our personalised timber gift boxes.
If you’re unsure whether or not your image is suitable, just send it through to us and we can see what result we can get when we prepare it for engraving.

What will make your timber cutting board to last the longest is not to let it soak in water, just use warm water and soap to wash it, then dry it off right away. When you notice the board becoming lighter in colour, give it a wipe with sunflower oil or processed coconut oil. Unprocessed coconut oil will leave a flavour on the food. Do not use olive oil - it becomes rancid.

All of our wooden cutting boards come delivered with a food safe and waterproof organic tung oil coating. This coating is self healing from cuts, and the underlying timbers are naturally antimicrobial. This is why wood is still the preferred cutting board material.

If you’d really want to treat your cutting boards and your nose, then use Gilly's food safe waxes. They smell amazing, and contain natural Carnauba and Bees waxes protecting your timber while making it look fantastic.
All of their products smell incredible. I believe you might be able to get a tin from Bunnings, some kitchen stores, or even order direct from Gilly's themselves. They are in Western Australia. Great bunch of people to deal with, and really great smelling waxes!

Mineral oil works well and is food safe, but it’s not a permanent coating.

I personally haven’t had problems with the occasional coat of sunflower oil, or processed coconut oil if that is all you have available in your kitchen, but for a permanent food safe coat, you can’t beat tung oil which will harden and waterproof the chopping board.

Yes! You're more than welcome to pick up your order from us in Brisbane if it was a last minute order, or you're worried about shipping times.

Our Gavels are in the mess halls of the Army surviving rowdy alcohol fuelled dinners. They’re in use with various air force squadrons, and we have sent out multiples to Naval bases. We have crafted Gavel gift sets that have been sent to Judges at the High and Supreme Courts of Australia, and Presidents in South America. We send them to Worshipful Masters of various chapters of the Masonic Lodge weekly.

Our Personalised Judge Gavels get pounded daily by numerous auctioneers across the globe and rest on retired Mayors and Judges desks celebrating their careers.

Our Gavels are made to be used. The handles are only crafted from straight grained timbers, and the gavels that need to take extra abuse strictly only use Merbau or Pecan Wood Handles – the only two legal striking timbers used for tool handles in Australia.

It’s a bit of a process to turn some blade steel into a razor sharp edge.
We don’t expect you to have a linishing machine that grinds a blunt piece of Japanese steel into a precision edge.

We use many belt grits to remove the bulk of material, going down to finer and finer grits before finally finishing that edge off on a leather strop.
By the time you get your personalised pocket knife, all of the hard work has been done to the blade. You only need to maintain that blade edge now and then, which is best done with a diamond encrusted sharpening stone, a bit of honing oil and for the final touch, a leather strop. The backside of a leather belt will work just fine also.

You don’t want to remove any bulk material from your blade, that was done during manufacturing. You’re simply maintaining the edge now. A light hone with your sharpening stone on both sides of the edge, and a few swipes on the leather is more than enough to keep your blade crisp.

Premium blade steels will show surface corrosion if not kept dry and oiled.
Always dry your blade steel after cleaning and store them dry.

Because we're a small team, we preffer to keep all communication through messages and email.
We would be half as efficient if we were to be taking calls all day.
