We don’t forge the steel ourselves — Australia doesn’t make blade steel — but we choose it carefully. We use D2 Tool Steel, VG10, AUS10, 440C, and 420, depending on the knife. From Japan, China, and the USA, all from mills we trust and have tested. We stay away from the high-maintenance stuff — you shouldn’t need to baby your knife. It should just work, hold an edge, and get on with it.
When we have our steel, we do the rest here in Brisbane.
